Winter weddings bring a nice, cozy vibe—but the cold weather can be tough on your skin, and we want you to look as radiant as possible on your big day! Here are some tips to prepare your skin for your winter wedding makeup so that together we can create a flawless, glowing look that lasts all day, no matter the cold weather.
Hydrate and Prep Your Skin Early
To get the most from your winter bridal makeup, start with good skincare leading up to the big day. Winter air can make skin dry and sensitive, which is why I recommend amping up your hydration. Use a gentle exfoliator 1-2 times a week to clear away any, flaky skin and apply a hydrating mask regularly to give your skin that extra boost. A week before your wedding, consider scheduling a hydrating facial (nothing harsh or super stimulating!) to plump up and smooth your skin, making it the perfect base for makeup. When I apply your makeup, I’ll use products tailored to keep your skin comfortable and radiant all day.
Prime for a Glow
For your winter wedding, we’ll use a radiant, hydrating primer that keeps your makeup looking fresh and dewy. But before the wedding day, test different products to see what feels comfortable for you. Look for a primer with light-reflecting qualities to bring out a natural glow; that way, when we apply your foundation, it will blend seamlessly, ensuring a luminous finish without emphasizing any dryness.
Go Creamy with Blush and Highlighter
Powders can sometimes emphasize dryness, especially in colder months. In our trial, we’ll explore cream-based blushes, bronzers, and highlighters that create a soft, romantic finish perfect for winter. Peachy or rose tones add just the right amount of warmth, and we can layer these to get the perfect flush.
Keep Lips Hydrated and Bold
Winter is a great time to try bold lip shades, but dry lips are common. In the days leading up to your wedding, regularly use a hydrating lip balm and gentle lip scrub to keep your lips smooth. On the day of, I’ll prep your lips with a balm to ensure our chosen shade goes on smoothly and stays beautiful.
Lock in Moisture
On the big day, we’ll finish with a hydrating setting spray and lightweight powders to set your look. This keeps your makeup fresh and comfortable while maintaining that dewy, bridal glow.
Following these steps will make sure your skin is ready for a flawless, radiant finish. Together, we’ll make sure you glow through every moment, even on a crisp winter day in Chicago. Have you booked your wedding day makeup? I am currently booking 2025 brides!
